Surrey Docks Farm is a working farm in central London. The Farm aims to engage and educate the local community in all aspects of farming - including animal care, gardening, cooking, conservation and sustainability.

As part of our new project, Putting Down Roots in Rotherhithe the Farm is looking for some enthusiastic horticulture volunteers on Sundays and Mondays to help look after our green spaces, connect with nature, inspire each other and develop new skills.

The Farm has a wide range of established green spaces and emerging ones. We have a wonderful herb garden and dye garden overlooking the River Thames, a vibrant wildlife garden, food growing beds for our students with learning disabilities and youth groups, community plots, an orchard with beehives, a herb spiral/permaculture area, hops and a range of fruit beds and ornamental beds.

  • Do you have more than a year’s experience of gardening?
  • Would you like to learn more about organic horticulture?
  • Would you like to learn new skills and gain qualifications?

As part of this role a wide range of practical horticulture AQA accredited qualifications will be available throughout the year.

We are also very interested in supporting individuals who have knowledge of permaculture, hops, and dye gardening.

Please send a one page cover letter describing what you would like to gain from volunteering and what you can bring to this role.
