Description

Mission: Invertebrate is a project run by The Royal Parks and supported by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. It focuses on the plight of invertebrates across the royal parks and beyond. Our mission is to learn more about the invertebrates in the parks through specialist surveys and citizen science; to help them by enhancing and building habitats; and to raise awareness of their importance with schools and families.

The role involves helping raise awareness of invertebrates, and their importance, at roadshow dates across the Royal Parks and Brompton Cemetery. This will be done through educational and sensory activities during our events – both inside our exhibition vehicle and the activities under the marquees surrounding it. Volunteers will assist in the running of these activities.

Key activities:

  • Assisting set up and take down of exhibition vehicle, marquees, A-frames, tables and activities
  • Welcoming and engaging with families about the world of invertebrates
  • Crowd control and directing families to timed activities e.g. storytelling

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly, enthusiastic and enjoys working as part of a team
  • Confident in interacting with people of all ages
  • Passionate about the natural world
  • Happy to work outdoors and get their hands dirty!

Useful information:

  • Training for this role will be provided
  • Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed
  • You will need to be over 18 years old to carry out this role
