About Crop Drop

Crop Drop is not-for-profit veg box scheme on a mission to transform the current damaging food system into something that is fair, sustainable and healthy.

We provide people with fresh organic local produce at affordable prices whilst supporting small-scale organic farms and urban growers. We work directly with farmers who are growing in harmony with nature, renewing soils, encouraging wildlife and supporting their rural economies. We strive to be a low-carbon enterprise, bringing our customers really good food with as little milage and packaging as possible.

Through this we are helping to change people's relationship with food – our customers eat more seasonal produce and less animal products, they cook more from scratch and feel a greater connection with the food, their farmers and nature.

This is a very local scheme, operating in the London Borough of Haringey only. We're also a key member of a consortium creating a community food hub in Haringey on a 3.5-acre ex-council plant nursery site. This is a mixed-use site for food growing, learning, community activities and sustainability projects.

Crop Drop is a company limited by guarantee.

Non-Exec Director Opportunity

We're looking for committed individuals to complement the range of Director skills on the board. We require dynamic and motivated people who are sympathetic to the aims and objectives of Crop Drop to fulfill these voluntary duties. We expect Directors to contribute actively to the Board by giving strategic direction; defining goals and setting targets; evaluating performance; ensuring the organisation's effective and efficient administration and financial stability.

We want to have a wide range of people on the Board, and seek to be representative of the diverse population of the borough. There's no need to have previous experience of being a non-exec director to apply. An interest in food, farming and sustainability is necessary and a familiarity with the Haringey area is preferable.

In addition, on the basis of a recent skills audit, we are looking for people wit:

  • Marketing & PR experience
  • Accounting and Financial planning experience
  • Human Resources experience

Directors are expected to:

  • attend up to six meetings a year including quarterly Board meetings
  • contribute advice and support on an ad hoc basis.
  • If they are able to, directors can also get involved in support work including fixed-term projects

This is a voluntary position
