Closing date: Not specified, apply soon!

We are looking for short term volunteers to help us to map Teignbridge's hedgehog population!

What's involved?

You will be involved in creating data from survey returns from our participants; identifying hedgehog and other mammal tracks from survey track sheets returned to us from footprint tunnels deployed across Teignbridge.

Volunteers with experience in ecological data may be invited to help us to develop the recording process to achieve the required data outputs.

This data will help us to focus our efforts in providing habitat advice and support to take urgent action for hedgehogs across the region.

How will we help you?

You will be invited to a training session on hedgehog ecology and surveying and we will provide the survey sheets and spreadsheets for you to record data.

With your help, we are trying to find out:

  • The presence / absence of hedgehogs in Teignbridge, using footprint-tunnels.
  • The importance of different factors such as habitat features, land management practices and badgers, on where hedgehogs are found in the towns and villages across Teignbridge.
  • Baseline data to enable us to measure the impact of future action taken for hedgehogs.

Contact our Programme Co-ordinator, Debs on the number or email above for an informal discussion.
