Get involved in our natural heritage research project at Dean Castle Country Park in Kilmarnock & get trained in a range of survey techniques & ID skills.

We're surveying for butterflies, moths, amphibians, aquatic invertebrates, bumblebees as well as haymeadows and hedgerow surveys throughout the country park in order to better manage our park for wildlife. We tap into national initiatives to ensure our data is contributing to national and local trends and so the skills and techniques you'll learn will be transferable to other locations.

This is a flexible volunteering opportunity. We run ID and survey technique training sessions usually on Wednesday afternoons then once you feel confident to branch out on your own, you can complete surveys in your own time. It's a great way to gain independent survey experience for a range of wildlife and habitats.
