The Trust runs a huge variety of events over the spring and summer and we need volunteers to support them.

Our reserve management volunteer opportunities take a step back in the warmer months due to nesting birds and other breeding wildlife. The spring and summer, however, is a perfect time for the public to get outside and enjoy one of our many events.

Without our dedicated volunteer event's team, we could not run our events programme. We are therefore always keen for more support. There is plenty to get involved with as an events volunteer, and we are flexible with regular and one-off volunteer opportunities available.

We need help:

  • Setting up before and after an event
  • Volunteers on the day to support the running of the event. Tasks can include:
    • Assisting with the family activities
    • Serving refreshments
    • Chatting to attendees
    • Marshalling the car park
    • Taking admission for tickets
    • Promoting the work of Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust at our events.

Skills required

You really don’t need to have experience, and training is provided. You will particularly enjoy this role if you are:

  • Happy to work outdoors
  • Have a personal and friendly manner
  • Have great organisation skills
  • Happy to be hands on
  • Able to work well in a small team
  • Interested in people and wildlife
  • Able to represent Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust in a friendly and engaging manner
  • Happy to talk to new people and groups.

What volunteering with Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust will give you:

  • Flexibility, help out at as many events as you like
  • Gain experience with a fun, friendly and dedicated team
  • Relevant training for your role and opportunities to learn about local wildlife
  • Skills, experience and confidence, with the possibility of a reference.
  • Support from a full-time Volunteer Coordinator and other GWT staff
  • An induction into GWT, volunteer forums and an annual volunteer conference
  • Travel expense, up to a 40 mile round trip at 0.35p per mile

Location: Gloucestershire wide, over 40 events happening throughout Gloucestershire.
