The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust (HWDT) are looking for an enthusiastic individual to assist with the delivery of our successful schools programme, Hebridean Marine Explorers, providing authentic and inspirational education activities that drive effective and successful conservation.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the delivery of HWDT’s schools programme, including classroom visits, field-trips and floating classroom sessions on board our research yacht Silurian.
  • Assist with the preparation of school visits to ensure HWDT provides a quality service.
  • Monitor and keep records during and after session delivery, i.e. pupil numbers, teacher feedback and photographic consent to support evaluation.
  • Help publicise and promote HWDT’s schools programme to an external audience, taking photographs where appropriate and contributing to news items for HWDT’s website.
  • Work independently to create and deliver a new workshop for our schools programme, disseminating key findings from HWDT's research.

DATES:

Monday 25th March - Friday 11th October 2019 (start date non-negotiable due to essential training week).

This role requires volunteer support 22.5 hours per week, flexible. This includes some weekends, occasional evenings and four week-long education trips away from Tobermory.
