We are looking for an Assistant Ranger to come and join our Ranger Team at St Abbs for 7 months from early April to late October. This position would suit recent graduates or someone starting a career in nature conservation.

The role involves assisting the Rangers with the daily management of the nature reserve including biological monitoring, visitor liaison (including education and policing), practical management of habitats and countryside estate infrastructure and membership recruitment. This is a live-in position in shared accommodation and includes regular weekend working.

Some knowledge / experience in the relevant field is required, but enthusiasm, flexibility and a desire to learn is what is really essential. An ability to work under own initiative and good communication skills necessary, as will a willingness and ability to undertake physical work (sometimes strenuous) in all weathers, and be comfortable working near cliffs.
