The Fordhall Community Land Initiative (FCLI) is a not-for-profit community benefit society, which owns and utilises Fordhall Organic Farm in North Shropshire as an educational and social resource, promoting sustainable farming and healthy living. It raised an amazing £800,000 in 2006 through a high profile national press campaign to enable Fordhall Organic Farm to be purchased by its non-profit making shareholders, of which there are now over 8000 across 25 countries. This is the first structure of its kind in the England to place farmland into community ownership. The society was created by Charlotte and Ben Hollins, both in their early twenties, and is now developing into an exemplar project with wide reaching appeal and benefits.

“The FCLI aims to improve the understanding of sustainable food and farming through the resource of Fordhall Farm, by being an integral part of the community.”

Help us support our community

We are looking for individuals with a keen eye for detail and excellent skills in MS Office to support our office operations. We have over 8000 community members to administer and look after, plus many volunteers, and thousands of visitors.

Office work is varied, although on occasion there can be tasks with are repetitive and detailed. We have a wonderful team to offer support to our volunteers. Most of our processes use MS Office and then we have a bespoke member database for which full training will be given.

Opportunities outdoors will also be available soon. If you are interested in these, please do get in touch.

Please do take a look through our website to find out more about us. We accept volunteers into the office most days - as long as we have office space!

And we have fortnightly outdoor volunteer opportunities on a Friday beginning in February. These will involve conservation work and general maintenance. They are great fun and a chance to make friends, learn some new skills, and put those you have to good use supporting a great community project.
