The Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) fights for a better future for the English countryside. We work locally and nationally to protect, shape and enhance our beautiful, thriving countryside for everyone to value and enjoy.

The Staffordshire branch of CPRE responds to planning applications and consultations, deals with enquiries from members of the public, runs a Green Schools’ Awards scheme, and organises litter-picks and tree-planting events. To help us continue with this valuable work, we are looking for a Fundraiser/Fundraising Events Organiser to join us on a voluntary basis.

Activities might involve:

  • Helping to organise fundraising events based on experience, contacts and interests;
  • Building relationships with local businesses to negotiate sponsorship;
  • Recruiting new members;
  • Researching trusts, Lottery grants and other funding sources to seek money for events/campaigns, making applications if required;
  • Launching a ‘leave a legacy’ campaign for the branch;
  • Building up our social media presence.

What we need from you:

Our branch office is in Stafford town centre, so you would have the choice to either work from here and/or at home. We keep in regular contact via phone and/or email to discuss progress and to provide support. You would also be encouraged to attend group meetings.

Ideally, we hope that you can offer us most of the qualities described below:

  • well organised and able to keep clear, accurate records;
  • able to work to deadlines and to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • computer literate and confident at contacting people by phone.

We anticipate this voluntary role will take 2-4 hours per week, but we can be flexible depending on your availability and other commitments.

What’s in it for you?

  • A great opportunity to use your existing experience and to develop new skills;
  • Opportunities to attend local and national CPRE activities, events and workshops;
  • An opportunity to improve your CV and gain valuable practical experience.

The role is voluntary although we will pay all out-of-pocket expenses with prior agreement, in line with our Volunteers Policy.

To apply, please send a short CV, covering letter and contact details for two referees to protect@cprestaffordshire.org.uk

For an informal discussion of the role, please contact Sue Kneill-Boxley or Sarah Burgess on 01785 277890 or email protect@cprestaffordshire.org.uk.
