Comms expert needed to refresh Repowering’s story!

Role description

Repowering supports communities to develop, fundraise and install community-owned energy. We need specialist help to update and refresh our corporate communications (portfolio, case studies, website, social media) – increasing our reach, strengthening our story, and helping scale our impact.

We need someone with the ideas and skills to bring Repowering’s work to life in print and online materials – to attract more followers, investors, partners, and funders. You will quickly interpret what Repowering are about – and use your cutting-edge skills and ideas to make us stand out.

We’re not looking to rebrand or buy new tools – we’re looking for the right person to review the vast materials we have (photos, stories, data) and refresh our current public and corporate façade to reflect our current work and 2019 ambition.

Some office-time (at least to begin with) is essential and the more hours the better, but all set-ups considered. The role is unpaid but travel expenses will be reimbursed at cost.

About Repowering

Repowering London specialises in community energy projects that deliver social, environmental and financial returns to the communities in which they are based.

We support local people to develop, own and manage renewable energy projects within socially deprived neighbourhoods and challenging urban environments. Our work generates not only clean electrical energy, but also the social energy that brings people together to create empowered and resilient communities.

Repowering has established four award winning projects, Brixton Energy Solar 1, 2, 3 and Banister House Solar. These include both the first and largest community-owned energy projects on social housing in the UK. Each project is housed in an independent co-operative that is sustained through income generated from the Feed-in-Tariff and the sale of electricity.

Repowering is a development body that provides the technical, financial, legal and administrative expertise to raise investment from the community and successfully deliver community-owned renewable energy projects.

Your skills:

  • Strong design talent (print design, publishing, web design, social media)
  • Savvy design skills (WordPress, Adobe suite (or equ.), Social media
  • A strong command of English language
  • Understanding/appreciation of Community Energy (or environmental issues) desirable

Our opportunity:

You’ll develop your communication skills and portfolio of work, whilst learning about community energy and start-up development – all whilst taking positive action against climate change and having fun!
