Would you like a spend an hour or two looking for butterflies in some beauty spots?

We are looking for keen Lepidopterists (amateurs welcome) to undertake butterfly transects across nature reserves in Yorkshire. If you enjoy being outside in nature, scouting for butterflies and seeing the changes in both reserve and species you encounter over the survey season, then this role is for you.

What will you be doing?

  • Carry out butterfly transects on YWT reserves following the Butterfly conservation survey methodology, in conjunction with other surveyors.
  • Collate and record the data from transects onto the UK Butterfly Conservation Trust website.

Nature Reserves we need surveyors for are: North West: Brae Pasture, Grass Wood, Mealbank Quarry, Southerscales; North East: Ashberry Wood, Bishop Monkton Railway Cutting, Burton Riggs, Ellerburn Bank/Pexton Bank, Fen Bog, Little Beck Wood, Ripon City Wetlands; Staveley, Upper Dunsforth Carrs; East: Spurn Point, Wheldrake Ings

Closing date for applications: Monday 4th March 2019

Application forms can be found on our website, using the information pack link provided.

Training Day: A training day will be held for new surveyors and this will likely be the last week in March. Date TBC.
