To support DWT’s work by:

  • Engaging people through fun wildlife learning activities - primarily for children
  • Providing time for membership recruiters to talk to people about DWT membership
  • Helping to increase DWT membership which enables us to support Devon’s wildlife and wild places.

What the task involves:

Going out and about to shows and events with the DWT membership recruitment team to support them in leading activities.

This will require you to:

  • Go to shows/events and lead activities such as quizzes and kids craft. Driving and transporting equipment will be required.
  • Engage members of the public
  • Support the membership recruiter by referring people to him/her.
  • Represent DWT in a friendly and professional manner

Targeted shows/events across the county – near to where you live.


Volunteers will be able to choose which events suit them. Demands change seasonally with April to September being the high season. Events will typically be at weekends and Bank Holidays between 10-4pm. Occasionally there will be mid-week and evening events.


Rachael Fielder-Pine (Membership and Supporter Development Team Leader) will be the main supervisor/first point of call.

DWT membership recruiters will be on the day event supervisors.

Training will be provided.

Volunteers will be kept up to date via emails from the membership recruitment team.

Expenses and equipment available

All activity equipment will be provided. Travel costs reimbursed. Clothing – branded top / photo ID provided. 
All passes / entrance fees / access to shows will be provided.

Health and safety / risk assessment

Volunteers will need to follow DWT’s show and membership recruiter risk assessment.

Follow DWT’s lone working procedures.
