There is a worldwide movement to encourage organisations and institutions to take their money, pensions and investments out of fossil fuel companies (Divestment) for both moral and financial reasons.

For example, research in 2017 suggested Local Authority Pension Funds in Wales have around £1billion invested directly or indirectly in fossil fuel companies.

If we are to avoid the worst excesses of climate change we need to act on climate change now.

Friends of the Earth Cymru has already had success with our Divestment campaign and as we move in to the next stage of the campaign we are seeking a dedicated volunteer to help the campaign achieve further change across Wales and across different sectors.

We offer the opportunity to be based in our Cardiff office working with a dedicated staff member, work from home, or a mix of both.

The role will involve research, event organisation, networking with other interested groups such as university and faith groups and some political lobbying.

It would suit someone able to work on their own initiative and who has a keen interest in environmental and climate change issues. The work is flexible and is a good opportunity to learn more about the issues, get involved in an exciting campaign, meet like-minded people and gain experience of networking, publicity, event organisation, lobbying and campaigning.

Please email Bleddyn Lake ( bleddyn.lake@foe.co.uk ) if you are interested in volunteering.
