1. London Sustainability Exchange (LSx) is operating as an independent charity (registered Charity Number: 1122130). LSx connects and motivates people to accelerate the transition to a sustainable London. We do this by increasing sustainability literacy, developing and influencing policy and practice regarding London and learning from and broadcasting good practice.

2. Volunteering Activities

This volunteer position will provide support to the Finance function at LSx.

The role offers opportunities that include:

  • Assisting with weekly finance processing which will enable the individual to learn about financial processes and systems in a small organisation and contribute to the accurate production of financial information.
  • Working with a range of individuals (internal and external) assisting in producing a variety of financial information which will help LSx make sound management decisions and contribute to the charity fulfilling it’s charitable objects. For example, liaising with project officer’s and assistants in analysing project costs against budget and producing quarterly variance reports will help LSx deliver projects to a high standard and to a specified budget (experience of having worked on financial packages will be a distinct advantage).
  • Utilising communication skills to resolve queries; by assisting with monthly creditor and debtor reconciliations and liaising with suppliers and project partners, the Finance volunteer will be able to develop personal and professional skills and assist the Finance contractor meet specified financial deadlines.
  • Assisting with development and delivery of our comprehensive events program by inputting information on our contact database ‘Maximiser’.
  • Other activities that may be reasonably required.

3. Who are you?

  • Excellent numeracy and organisational skills, able to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good ICT skills, with a confident approach (LSx uses Microsoft Office including excel and word, and Xero)
  • Experience of using financial software would be an advantage
  • Able to follow instructions and be proactive and self-motivating
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • An interest in, and commitment to, sustainable development and the mission of LSx is desirable
