Closing date: Friday, 31st August 2018

Founded in 1986, UKOTCF, also known as Overseas Territories Conservation, is a UK-based non-government organisation, which exists to protect and to promote biodiversity and other heritage conservation in the UK’s Overseas Territories (UKOTs). It does this by supporting capacity building; strategic planning; deployment of specialist volunteers; developing and running conservation and education projects with local partners; sharing ideas and experiences and providing advice to decision makers. It involves bringing together a wide network of bodies in the UKOTs, and supporting organisations in Britain and elsewhere.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a high level of literacy and communication skills with a keen interest in conservation and wildlife to provide support to our small team.

The person we are looking for should, perhaps, be a recent graduate with a background in an environmental related subject, although other experience in areas relating to this will be considered, as will persons at other stages in their careers. We will offer some experience in the day-to-day running of a small non-profit organisation and an introduction to the extraordinary wildlife found in the UK’s overseas territories if that is your interest, or it could satisfy your desire to be part of charitable activities, which contribute towards conservation of globally important biodiversity.

A six-month commitment (with potential extension beyond that) is preferred, as this will ensure involvement in a wide range of projects and organisational activities. These include (but are not limited to): administration, communications, web management, social media, assistance with logistics of meetings, membership management and project development.

Please note that we will be able to respond only to those invited to meet with us. Please don’t take this personally. This is just a matter of administration capacity.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you’ll be able to carry out these activities in your own time (with some restrictions if meetings are on set times, but involvement will, of course, be optional) and be home-based (possibly with some supported travel, probably within Britain).

If you think this is for you, please send a C.V and covering letter/email, outlining some of your interests, to Catherine Wensink  with the subject heading Conservation Assistant.

We expect to notify those we would like to speak with on Wednesday 5th September 2018 and meet with those short-listed (by Skype) on Wednesday 12th September 2018.

Please mention when responding to this ad.
