Trees for Cities is the only charity working on an international scale to create greener cities through planting trees. Since 1993, we have engaged over 80,000 people to plant 840,000 urban trees in parks, streets, schools and housing estates across the UK and overseas, revitalising these areas and improving the lives of local people. We strengthen communities through volunteering opportunities and inspire children to grow and eat good food and to connect with nature.

Role Description:

We are looking for a Promotional Material Design Volunteer to support the corporate team in developing promotional booklets to market our corporate services. The Corporate Partnerships team play a vital role in bringing in income for the charity, and the materials designed will be distributed to several high-profile businesses over the next few years.

What Trees for Cities will provide:

  • Support and help with the role
  • Travel expenses up to £10 a day will be reimbursed with evidence of receipts
  • Lunch up to £5 can also be reimbursed with evidence of receipts.
  • Reference upon request

The main requirements that the volunteer will perform are:

  • To support the corporate team to design 4/5 promotional booklets for Trees for Cities’ Corporate Services, including environmental offsetting, marketing partnerships and volunteering. These booklets will be distributed via the Trees for Cities website and in print.
  • To adhere to a design brief whilst using creativity to ensure that booklets are professional, informative and aesthetically pleasing and conform to the Trees for Cities brand guidelines.
  • To support with the production of final versions of the promotional material that can be edited and used to market our Corporate Services for the foreseeable future.

Ideally, applicants will have the following attributes:

  • In penultimate year/graduated from an art and design, illustration or other relevant degree qualification with own access to design software (Adobe Creative Suite or similar)
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to adhere to a brief, creating infographics and a running theme for the booklets
  • Creative flair and able to come up with new ideas
  • A strong communicator who is able to follow instructions, work independently and discuss new ideas

Time commitment:

  • This is a flexible remote working position over 4-6 weeks, with the requirement to work 1 day a week in the TfC office.


  • The placement will be mainly home based with the requirement to attend our office in Kennington Park, SE11 for 1 day a week.

Volunteers being considered for the post will be invited for a (very) informal interview to discuss skills and experience, preferred working patterns and what they hope to get out of the role.
