Trainee Ranger (Long Term Volunteer) x2

Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust

Brixham, Devon

Volunteer • Part Time 01803 520022 Noel Hughes

Sectors: conservation & wildlife

Closing date: Friday, 6th July 2018

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated trainee to assist with delivering the practical countryside management programme, assist with ongoing scientific studies, livestock handling and public engagement. The posts will be based at Berry Head National Nature Reserve (NNR) & Site of Special Scientific Interest. The successful candidates will be living on the reserve, and will be able to fully immerse themselves in one of the most important sites in the region.

The ranger team, based at the NNR, work with volunteer groups and help to staff the visitor centre. The trainees will initially assist and then eventually lead events such as Bat Walks and volunteer work parties. Working duty weekends and occasional evenings will be required.

These placements are a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in the day-to-day management of a National Nature Reserve through the changing seasons.

Over 80% of our long term volunteers have gone directly into conservation employment or back into related education (BSc/MSc). Full support & training is given to ensure that you maximise your time here and get you ready for your first employed position.

Those selected for interview will have the opportunity to come and spend a day on site, with a reserve tour and practical session in the morning and interviews in the afternoon.

Interviews will be held on Thursday 19th July.
