We have a great opportunity for someone looking to gain experience needed to work in a teaching environment to gain essential skills working on our Environment education program in Lloyd Park. The Schools and Community Education project serves as an outdoor education centre for schools, colleges community groups and families in the borough of Waltham Forest. Through the year the education team deliver environmental education and family fun sessions, with hands on activities such as mini-beast hunting, pond dipping, tree walks and natural arts.

You will assist the Education Project Officer delivering these sessions helping students and the local community discover the wildlife around them. You’ll gain confidence and understanding so you can lead your own small groups and activities. You will gain valuable experience working with children in the field of outdoor education.

Furthermore, regular training such First Aid, Safeguarding, health and safety and Wildlife ID skills will be provided.

We ask that you volunteer for a minimum of 2 half day sessions per week. TCV will fund your DBS Enhanced Disclosure which will be required prior to working with school groups. This position will suit anyone looking to work in the education sector as a teacher or teaching assistant, it gives you valuable experience in working with children, constructing lesson plans, dealing with parents and first hand teaching pupils.
