As part of a long-term commitment to climate action and wildlife protection, EJF has purchased a woodland in south Wales. We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to provide a baseline survey of wildlife in the wood and potentially assess its carbon balance. Alongside this we would also provide training to promote what you find using creative science communication through EJF’s channels.

This could provide an excellent interdisciplinary project for a student, we would be happy to discuss adapting the project to incorporate your ideas. This is a rare opportunity to gain valuable experience in the internal workings of a charity working on global issues with local stakeholders.

Main duties:

  • Wildlife surveys and creation of an inventory
  • Researching and calculating a carbon balance for the wood
  • Writing blogs

  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for British wildlife.
  • Good written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of surveying techniques is desirable.

Working hours: 9am to 6pm, 3 days a week

Period: 3 months

Starting date: 15 June 2018 (can be somewhat flexible)

Travel to or within Bath of up to £8.90 and £4 for lunch expenses per day will be covered. Trips from Bristol or Bath to the woodland will be covered. Please send a CV and cover letter telling us why you want this post with EJF to the email address above.
