Camden Council’s Green Space Service is a seeking self-motivated graduate volunteer to join a dynamic team and learn about working within this sector.

This is an opportunity for a graduate to assist Camden’s Green Space Service to realise its vision for creating a woodland economy for the Borough. The post holder may work on projects around surveying Camden’s woodlands, woodland management and exploring and developing local markets for woodland products.

Conditions and benefits of volunteering at Camden

  • Commitment: Approx 2 months placement; 2 days per week (flexible)
  • Expenses: We will reimburse travel (within Greater London) and lunch (up to £5 per day)
  • Location: 5 Pancras Square, London N1C 4AG
  • We are particularly keen to recruit volunteers who live, work or study in Camden borough

Tree Services Graduate Volunteer

The role will work closely with Camden’s Tree Manager, Tree Officers and Nature Conservation Officer. Projects and tasks may include:

  • Exploring approaches to urban woodland management & timber production
  • Exploring legislative requirements e.g. felling licenses, nature conservation
  • Assessing opportunities for funding for woodland management
  • Applying for grants

We are looking for graduates who can demonstrate:

  • An understanding and appreciation of forestry, sustainability and nature conservation
  • Competence with a full range of office based ICT equipment and programmes
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to express and present information accurately, clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work accurately, efficiently, methodically and in a timely manner, demonstrating effective self-management, organisation and administrative skills
  • Qualification to undergraduate level in an appropriate discipline e.g. forestry, nature conservation, environmental science or arboriculture.
