Closing date: Not specified, apply soon!

We are currently recruiting for a transfer and volunteer coordinator for our terrestrial research sites in Indonesia. We have vacancies available for between 4-8 weeks within the months of June and July.

The position will involve overseeing the transfers from the airport to the forest camps. You will be responsible for welcoming the groups, briefing them on their travel to site, and accompanying the group on this journey. On occasion you will be the sole person on the transfer.

The position will also involve working with volunteers (university students and school teachers/school students) in the field to create and ensure schedules are implemented, assisting in explaining various survey techniques and the aims and objectives of Operation Wallacea at that research site. You will be a main point of contact for any questions and queries and provide a degree of pastoral care. You will have the opportunity to join any of the field surveys and assist the scientists in the field.

Applicants should have experience of working in the field, good communication and organisational skills and preferably a biological background, though not essential. You will need to be a confident individual who is competent working alone, and is a good problem solver. Indonesian language skills are desirable, though not essential.

In return, successful applicants receive full accommodation and food onsite, networking and skills development, flight bursaries for more experienced candidates, and of course the opportunity to contribute towards long-term conservation efforts.
