Reference: CCF Treasurer Mar'18

Sectors: sustainability

Closing date: Tuesday, 10th April 2018

As Treasurer, you’d also join our Trustees who plan and direct CCF’s future and ensure it’s well run.
You'd have particular responsibility for its financial management.

You would:

  • advise Trustees on financial matters, including implications of accounts, plans & budgets, providing and explaining appropriate information
  • ensure CCF is run on a sound financial footing, with suitable insurance, records, management information, controls and procedures
  • workwith trustees and staff to improve these, when needed
  • help prepare CCF’s accounts for independent examination
  • liaise with CCF Trustees, Manager and accountant
  • come to Trustee meetings - evenings, about every 2 months and our AGM, evening in May. Other meetings with our Manager, Alana Sinclair and Tom Bragg, Chair of Trustees, and maybe others, about finances, reporting on them and improving our systems
  • get involved in other CCF activities, according to your interests and availability

You'll see from CCF's recent accounts that our Income and Expenditure is about £50k and our accounts are straightforward, Our accountancy period is the calendar year. In 2017 there were 267 bank transactions.

You'd be part of our lively team who contribute in their different ways and enjoy working together for a common goal.

Our recent Treasurer has moved to London, and in the meantime, we have welcome interim support from our previous Treasurer.

You’ll already have some years' relevant financial experience and responsibility, maybe in a charity, organisation or business. Also more general organisational experience that will help in your Trustee role.

Some personal skills we'd value are:

  • listening and analysing
  • clearly stating your view and putting it in writing, as needed
  • teamwork, including helping reach good joint decisions
  • leading and organising small teams on a joint project, when needed

And more technical skills you'll need:

  • understanding and explaining financial and accounting issues
  • accounts and related IT

It would be great if you also have skills to help us:

  • introduce an online accounts system, such as Xero
  • improve our cash-flow monitoring

It will help if you have:

  • an interest or familiarity with our work for sustainable living and how to effectively engage and inspire people to make personal changes. Don't worry: we're not hair-shirt or holier-than-thou!
  • interest and time to get involved in some other CCF activity, internal or public-facing, according to your interests and availability
  • Fundraising experience welcome!
