Unpaid Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve Volunteer Placement

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is the leading nature conservation charity in the two counties. For more than 50 years we have protected wildlife and inspired others to love nature.

We are looking for someone keen to enter a career in conservation based education and practical conservation management to join our team at Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve for six months from May 2018. The successful applicant will assist with

  • delivery of environmental education and guided walks to groups and visitors at Blashford Lakes under the supervision of the education staff.
  • day to day running of the centre, helping to develop and promote the education and interpretation of the nature reserve.
  • practical conservation work to maintain and/or improve habitats, practical estate work to maintain and/or improve public access and wildlife surveying.

The post will be unpaid, but you will be provided with in-house training and gain a wealth of experience in these areas of work. You are asked to make a commitment to volunteering with the Trust over a six-month period (3 to 5 days per week), but the specific details of this can be negotiable.

Due to the nature of the work this role is for over 18s only and subject to a DBS check.

Duration: Six months from May 2018 up to 5 days per week.

Location: Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve, near Ringwood, Hampshire.

Application deadline: 4pm, Monday 26th March 2018

Interview Date: 19th April 2018 (invitation to interviews will be by 6th April)

We require completed application forms. Please download an application form and further job details at www.hiwwt.org.uk/work-experience , or request one by email to volunteer@hiwwt.org.uk, or by telephoning 01489 774400.
