A unique opportunity to work with rescued and confiscated parrots and all indigenous bird species in their native environment in Belize.

We are looking for interns with energy and enthusiasm: experience is not always necessary. This is a demanding internship with long hours, sun up to sun down. Interns work closely with Directors and local staff and will receive full training and instruction in every aspect of the required tasks.

  • Feeding: create, prepare and distribute daily feeds, care for worm and rodent colonies, clean all food areas
  • Baby birds: hand-feeding, formula prep, cleaning, weight checks and record keeping, husbandry
  • Husbandry and enrichment: all aspects of aviary cleaning, re-perching and enrichment, cleaning crates and platforms, laundry, creating foraging toys,
  • Clinic: cleaning, health checks, medication, supplemental feeding, fecal analysis
  • Horticulture: seeding and planting food crops and enrichment
  • Rescues, releases and veterinary clinic visits;
  • Education & public awareness: social media, in schools, local events
  • Administration including record-keeping, database entry
  • Fundraising and advocacy
  • Design and construction for those with appropriate skills
  • Multi-species rehabilitation: raptor, parrot, passerine, waterbird, seabird,

This is a live-in position: interns are required to contribute between $25US - $38US per day (depending on duration of stay) for their food and accommodation.
