Closing date: Monday, 5th March 2018

Do you care about the world around you, and want to do something to make a difference?

Do you want to work in the environmental sector, but lack the experience to land your first job?

Do you want to share your passion for the environment with others?

If so, then a Volunteer Officer traineeship with The Conservation Volunteers at Skelton Grange Environment Centre could be just the thing! You could spend your time trying your hand at a variety of practical conservation skills and learning how to lead groups of volunteers. You will gain excellent work experience that will be valued by employers, develop a whole range of transferable skills, take part in a comprehensive training programme, and best of all join a friendly and supportive staff and volunteer team in a green oasis hidden away in South Leeds.

Click here for an application form and send it back to us before the closing date of 10am on Monday, 5th March. Interviews are scheduled for Monday, 12th March, and the start date will be as soon as possible following this.

Ideally we are looking for volunteers who can commit to two to four days per week (Monday - Friday), for six months or more, in order for you to get the most out of the experience and training on offer. You don't need experience, just enthusiasm and the desire to deliver practical conservation activities.

We can offer you:

  • A designated manager with monthly updates to support you in your role.
  • Full Volunteer Officer role description.
  • Full training programme including working with children, first aid, health and safety and risk assessment.
  • Excellent work experience to help you land that job in the environmental sector.
  • Local travel expenses (up to a reasonable value / distance).

Previous volunteers have gone onto work for organisations such as The Wildlife Trusts, RSPB, Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Groundwork, BCEP, Leeds City Council and The Conservation Volunteers!

The Conservation Volunteers are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. References for prospective volunteers will be followed up and an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check will be carried out before volunteering opportunities begin.
