Bats are amazing animals, and an important part of our natural environment. There are 17 breeding species of bat in the UK, all of which are protected by law because their numbers have decreased so dramatically. The Bat Conservation Trust (BCT) works on a number of levels to create a better world for bats. We run a range of different projects and initiatives.

BCT runs the National Bat Monitoring Programme (NBMP), a “citizen science” project that has been tracking changes in bat populations since 1997 through a range of surveys carried out by volunteers.

An opportunity has arisen for an intern to assist the NBMP team in their work this spring. This is an exciting opportunity in a small, busy charity for those wanting office experience in the conservation sector.
