If you want to work in the environmental sector but lack the experience to land your first job, a Trainee position with BBOWT may be just what you need. As an unpaid volunteer Trainee you will gain employer-valued practical experience of conservation techniques, ranging from fencing and tree felling to species survey and livestock management. You will take part in a comprehensive training programme, tailored to your role (including first aid and NPTC chainsaw certification) and have a dedicated mentor who will monitor your progress and help with personal development throughout your placement.

The Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust is a membership-based voluntary organisation, managing over 80 nature reserves, influencing land management, and educating and encouraging all sectors of the community to care for local wildlife.

Based out of College Lake, near Tring (HP23 5QG), you will join a skilled and knowledgeable team delivering a conservation programme across our South Buckinghamshire reserves, which include Dancersend, Homefield Wood, Weston Turville Reservoir, and Yoesden. In this post you will learn about the practical management of habitats including chalk grassland, woodland and wetland, while gaining a diverse range of skills.

Applicants should have a keen interest in UK wildlife conservation, a good level of physical fitness, and be willing to supervise and lead volunteers. Relevant volunteering experience is desirable. A commitment of 3 days per week for 6-12 months is essential. Required days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8.30 am - 4.30 pm.
