Why do we need this volunteer?

Our marine wildlife is amazing and we want to tell everyone! Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is creating a county rich in wildlife and we need passionate, inspiring people to help run more events and educational sessions to engage with more people. To help us ensure all our events and education sessions are running smoothly we are looking for someone who likes to organise, draw up rota's and forward plan to make sure it all happens on the day for our visitors. We'd like an Inspiring People Coordinator to liaise with Inspiring People volunteers to ensure we have the right people and equipment on the right day to lead and assist events and educational sessions. You'll be liasing with the Inspiring People volunteers and other volunteers while working closely with the Living Seas Centre Manager on a variety of tasks that include:

  • Confirm volunteers to lead events and sessions and keep a rota via email and phone calls
  • Ensure event posters are distributed out into the community
  • Record event feedback
  • Keep in touch with the local schools we work with
  • Other admin tasks at the LSC

Experience, knowledge and skills needed for this role

Essential

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Interpersonal communication skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Experience of working with people
  • Experience with computers (Microsoft Office, Outlook etc)
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
  • An eye for detail

Desirable

  • Education / teaching experience
  • Managing people / volunteers
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good under pressure

Where is the role based: Living Seas Centre, Flamborough

Commitment: Flexible- a couple of hours a week to suit and you could even be home based with this role.

Duration: Ongoing – Most of our events happen between April and September. This is when you will be busiest.

Closing Date for applications: Wednesday 21st February 2018 with informal interviews taking place on 28th February and 1st March 2018 (alternative times could be arranged).
