An assistant is required to help with the spring translocations in our ground-breaking Red Squirrel Reintroduction Project. The project is creating eight new populations of red squirrels in the northwest Scottish Highlands - restoring the species to its former habitat and to a region that is free from non-native grey squirrels. The position provides hands on experience in a wildlife conservation project and is an excellent opportunity for anyone wanting to pursue a career in this field.

Duties include pre-baiting feeders around Inverness-shire and Moray, setting up traps, catching red squirrels, assisting with health inspections and translocating squirrels to the northwest Highlands. Hours vary but are between 20-30 per week, from mid/late January to the end of March 2018. It is also possible to split the role between two candidates so please also consider applying if you are available for fewer hours than this.

Use of your own vehicle is preferred but a project vehicle will be available for off-road use if this is required. You will need to be based within easy daily travelling distance of Inverness. Free accommodation is available at our Dundreggan Conservation Estate until 16th March. Travel expenses from Inverness or equivalent base are covered by the project and full training is provided. Immediate start available.

Please send a CV and cover letter to becky@treesforlife.org.uk or email or call the Trees for Life office on 01309 691292 for more information.
