Starting in January 2018!
Become a Carpentry & Woodwork volunteer with us at the Forest Recycling Project.
Ideally, you'll live within Waltham Forest or East London and are looking for an opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence and meet new people. We work with a wide variety of volunteers and many have been through periods of unemployment or suffered from stress or experienced homelessness - if so, you will find a very warm welcome with us.
No previous experience is necessary; you'll be coached by our resident carpenter who will guide
you and show you the ropes. You will learn the basics including sanding and treating wood, up
to making shelves, benches and tables. We practice sustainability by using recycled scaffolding
boards and sell our products primarily to the local community.
You will need to be available on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 10am to 12.30pm or 1.30pm to
4pm. We'd really appreciate it if you can be regular with the attendance, as many people often
apply for this.
Appropriate equipment and protection will be provided. We offer expenses of £3 a day for our volunteers to spend on food or travel.
