Volunteer Officer Advert - Richmond Green Gym

Why we need you:

The Conservation Volunteers have an opportunity for a Volunteer Officer (VO) to help lead our Green Gym in Twickenham in the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames. This is an excellent opportunity to gain important skills and experience necessary to gain employment in the environment sector.

As a Volunteer Officer you will be helping volunteers to engage with and improve their local environment, learn about nature conservation and enjoy healthier lifestyles. You will play an integral part in the smooth running of the Green Gym in Richmond, including:

  • Practical nature conservation and leadership: Leading and assisting groups of volunteers from a variety of backgrounds on project days to complete conservation tasks such as, sowing wildflowers, tree care, wildlife surveys, invasive species removal and dead hedge creation etc.
  • Administration experience: pre-project planning, updating spreadsheets, updating social media and creation of site maps etc.
  • Buddying less able volunteers with support and assistance. We work with many people with mental health issues, social issues and disabilities; you could play apart in their road to recovery.

Benefits to you:

Our leadership programme is second to none and this is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wishing to gain the experience vital to land a paid position working in the environmental or community sector. A full training package is provided including First Aid, Project Leadership, Risk Assessment, and Safeguarding.
