Why we want you:

Be part of an exciting partnership project the RSPB has with Girlguiding London and South East England Region (LaSER) which aims at getting girls and young women (age range 5-26 years old) out and about enjoying nature and learning about the wonders of wildlife.

Currently there are over 14,000 Adult Girlguiding Leaders and Young Leaders (16-18yrs) in the South East. The RSPB will be running a number of 'nature connection' workshops for these Girlguiding leaders, aimed at equipping them with the skills, knowledge and confidence to get their girl guides out into nature a lot more.

This is where you come in as we're very reliant on support from confident and enthusiastic volunteers to help us deliver these workshops!

Tasks would include:

  • Using our training plan to deliver the workshops which cover: defining what a 'nature connection' is; building confidence in how to get their girls outside to enjoy connecting with nature. Each workshop would run from one to four hours depending on the booking and would be mainly based outdoors.
  • Delivering the workshops in a fun and creative way, bringing your own outdoor experiences, knowledge and passion for protecting the natural world into each session.
  • Connect even the least outdoorsy person to nature, breaking down any barriers that have previously prevented Girlguiding leaders from accessing and enjoying the natural world in their local area.
  • We'd ask you to be a hands-on trainer who can lead by example for the workshop activities (this may involve you getting a bit dirty!)

We'd train you in everything you need to know beforehand & provide you with an RSPB uniform and all the resources you'd need for the training workshop. You'd have the ongoing support from our RSPB staff member who leads on this partnership project every step of the way.

What's in it for you?
