Yorkshire Wildlife Trust seeks to create ‘Living Landscapes’ in which wildlife can thrive. Within our Northern region we manage 30 nature reserves, as well as several exciting projects. Protecting these living landscapes takes time and effort and our living landscapes staff benefit from the help and support of trainees to make our vision a reality, whilst providing a first rate training and development opportunity for people wanting to focus on a career in nature conservation.

We are looking to recruit a Northern Living Landscapes Voluntary Trainee to support and be involved in the management of nature reserves and conservation projects in North Yorkshire. Being alongside a team of knowledgeable staff, you will help in planning, development, and the practical delivery of this management.

This voluntary traineeship is part funded by Stories in Stone, an ambitious 4 year programme of conservation and community projects concentrated on the Ingleborough area. The scheme has been developed by the Ingleborough Dales Landscape Partnership and is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund. This is an exciting and varied role which promises to give you a great mix of skills!

Most of our work sites are located in remote locations, away from main public transport routes, therefore this role is more suited to a person who holds a full driving license and is willing to drive as part of the role. This role will be based at our office in Skipton, North Yorkshire.

This role is for 12 months, 3 days a week and is part of a wider rolling programme of Traineeships offered by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust – you will be part of a wider team of 20+ voluntary trainees and an internal programme of training and development is offered to all trainees, as well as a budget for training (to be agreed with your supervisor once the placement has started). We also offer a contribution towards daily out-of-pocket travel expenses to all our voluntary trainees.

Closing date: Wednesday 15th November by 9am

Interview date: 30th November at our Skipton Office

Start date: December
