Join our existing team of dedicated and amazing volunteers and help restore rare fen habitat, carr woodland or dry grasslands. Anyone is welcome to join the Little Ouse Headwaters Project.

Through volunteering for the Little Ouse Headwaters Project (LOHP) you can gain knowledge and experience in a wide range of wildlife conservation activities throughout the seasons in some of Norfolk and Suffolk’s most picturesque landscape. Some of our sites form part of the wider SSSI and SAC.

LOHP offer a range of volunteering opportunities including: practical restoration management, implementing monitoring, such as dipwell and water quality monitoring. There are plenty of wildlife surveys to get involved with including butterflies and dragonflies, aquatic invertebrates, bats, water voles, aquatic and terrestrial plants, otters, small mammals, grasshoppers and many, many more.

Opportunities are plentiful to learn about monitoring equipment, including fixed-point photography, trail cameras, bat detectors, moth traps and associated data input and collation.

You can assist, support or lead education and community engagement activities, such as guided walks, school visits and special events.

We also need people interested in livestock, who would be happy to check the welfare of our cattle & sheep.

Students are welcome to carry out research projects.

As a volunteer you will trained in a variety of skills, with opportunities to attend training courses for free, including species identification.

We welcome new volunteers all year.
