C3 Madagascar is offering a unique experience for an aspiring conservation biologist to assist in running our project entitled Filling Knowledge Gaps for Local Conservation of Marine Flagship Species in 3 Key Biodiversity Areas. We are working with Conservation International and various other NGOs across the remote northern seascape to gain data urgently required for effective community-based marine management.

The Programme Assistant will gain skills in sea turtle and dugong rapid assessment techniques, bycatch assessments, coastal habitat monitoring, socio-economic surveys, community consultations and gap analysis of current governance systems for protected area management.

In addition they will be involved in assisting with the continued expansion of our environmental education programme, the 'Junior Ecoguard' network in schools and running associated community outreach events. The Programme Assistant will assist the team with project documentation, monitoring and reporting in English.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a truly local team and immerse yourself in Malagasy culture, visiting some of the most remote coastal areas of the country, collecting the first data of its kind and helping establish the framework for future community-based conservation of critically important habitats and endangered species.
