Why We Want You:

We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to be involved with RSPB Cymru’s work saving nature; from building moral and financial support for nature to inspiring and enabling young people and their families to enjoy and spend more time with nature too.

Examples of things we do include running events, recruiting new RSPB members, fundraising, delivering family nature activities, blogging, campaigning and influencing government. We work on weekdays and on weekends and if you’re interested you’ll be able to join us at these times volunteering in the office or out and about around Cardiff.

We’ll tailor your volunteering experience to suit you, your skills, strengths and interests to ensure we make the most of you and your time.

What’s In It For You:

This is a chance to volunteer for the UK’s largest environmental conservation charity. You’ll work closely with RSPB staff and other volunteers to gain first hand experience behind the scenes of a busy and successful charity on a mission to help save nature.

You’ll be able to gain skills and experience identifying wildlife, engaging people with nature, researching, campaigning, fundraising and more depending on what you’d like to get involved in.

As an Approved Activity Provider for the DofE you’ll be supervised and mentored by RSPB staff who’ve been trained by the DofE to help you excel in your volunteering.

Full training and uniform for the outdoors will be provided and travel expenses to and from your volunteering will be covered.

The Skills / Talents You’ll Need:

You’ll be enthusiastic, energetic and a confident communicator. You’ll be happy approaching new people and engaging with members of the public, families and children to promote and support our work.

You’ll enjoy team work; be friendly and self-motivated with a positive attitude.

You’ll be comfortable receiving feedback and be proactive in identifying ways to improve work and achieve more for nature.

You’ll enjoy spending time both in and outdoors, have a basic knowledge of nature and be willing to learn more.

Our volunteering provides valuable experience in the conservation sector. However, volunteering does not guarantee future employment with the RSPB.

As a volunteer you’ll be joining an active and exciting conservation charity, the largest in the UK. The RSPB is also the UK partner of Birdlife International. We work for a healthy environment rich in birds and wildlife and rely on the support and generosity of volunteers to make a difference.
