What we're looking for

With over 100,000 visitors a year, Bempton Cliffs is a very busy reserve. We aim to deliver first class customer care at all times, as well as giving an outstanding home to nature. We are looking for someone to provide a warm welcome to all our visitors, providing them with the information they need to make the most of their visit. We need you to be able to enthuse people about wildlife and the RSPB, and actively encourage visitors to complete satisfaction surveys. Other duties include answering telephone enquiries and promoting events/activities.

The skills you need


  • Approachable, with a friendly demeanour 
  • A desire to help people and exceed expectations through excellent customer care 
  • Self motivated
  • Enjoy being part of a team
  • Confidence to initiate conversations with and talk to members of the public 
  • Ability to communicate well and listen 
  • Enthusiasm for wildlife and conservation
  • Willingness to undertake appropriate training and personal development 
  • Previous experience with communicating with a wide range of audiences 


  • Awareness of Health and Safety at work 
  • Familiarity with Bempton Cliffs 
  • First Aid certificate 
  • Knowledge of some RSPB work 
  • Confidence to ask people to join the RSPB 
  • Able to work calmly under pressure 
  • Demonstrable commitment to conservation or the environment
  • Own transport and live with one hour of the reserve

Period: All year but in particular March to September
