Do you have a passion for the environment, a good working knowledge of the charity sector, and demonstrable experience in leadership, management, and organisational development? Would you like to make a real difference for wild brown trout and the rivers they call home? We’re seeking a new voluntary Chair for our Board of Trustees, and would love to hear from you.

The Wild Trout Trust is a small, dynamic charity that works across the UK and Ireland. We restore the health of rivers and empower others to care for these important habitats. Our namesake, the brown trout, is a beloved wildlife icon, but also a powerful indicator of river condition and a key part of freshwater ecosystems. This means that by improving rivers for wild brown trout, we support an enormous range of other species.

With your help, we can do even more crucial conservation work than we do today! As Chair of our Board of Trustees, you’ll have an essential role in our development; as such, we’re seeking someone with a passion for the environment (especially water-related wildlife and habitats) and the vision to help strengthen and expand our ambition over the coming years.

This role will begin in autumn 2025 (exact date TBC). Applications close at midnight on Friday 30th May 2025.

About The Wild Trout Trust

We are a conservation charity that focuses on practical work to improve habitat for trout across the UK and Ireland. Although we are a small team, we have a big impact because we work in partnership with Rivers Trusts, Wildlife Trusts, local conservation volunteer groups, fishing clubs, landowners, Government Agencies and many more. Our role in these partnerships is to provide expert advice and practical project delivery as well as to inspire others and give them the advice and practical skills to improve and maintain their lake or river for the benefit of trout and all wildlife.
