Lundy Bird Observatory Assistant Warden
Lundy Bird Observatory / The Landmark Trust
Calling all birders! We are delighted to announce a unique opportunity to become a residential volunteer on a high-profile Bird Observatory. Lundy, a rugged island situated in the Bristol Channel Approaches, is a haven for seabirds and migration, steeped in natural history, archaeology and history. Main duties involve supporting the delivery of all Bird Observatory studies, primarily the daily census, bird ringing and migration counts, seabird productivity monitoring, wider wildlife recording and data collection. Confident identification of breeding and migrant birds is essential. Candidates holding an independent BTO bird ringing permit will be ideally placed (i.e C-permit, or above).
Two positions available (spring and autumn). However, full season or seasonal stints will be considered for exceptional candidates with a minimum commitment of at least two months expected.
🌱 Spring position: 3 Mar to 3 Jun
🍁 Autumn position: 2 Aug to 24 Oct
🪶 Full season: 3 Mar to 24 Oct
Applications will be reviewed as they are received. Closing date for all applications is 11:59 pm on 9 Feb 2025.
