Severn Rivers Trust

Volunteer • Part Time

www.severnriverstrust.com

Sectors: conservation & wildlife, water & hydrology

Closing date: Sunday, 2nd June 2024

Join our busy operations team to support the work of Severn Rivers Trust this summer! We are looking for volunteers to help 2-3 days per week through July to September 2024.

You will learn the essentials of river monitoring including electrofishing, chemical water testing and habitat surveys. You will be trained by river experts and closely supervised to help you gain knowledge and skills. You will also take part in river conservation schemes such as wetland creation, natural flood management and farm walkovers. You will get involved in a range of community engagement activities too, including family learning workshops and public river clean-ups. You will complete independent projects such as GIS and mapping, writing blogs and creating social media content.

This will be an incredible boost to your CV. You do not need formal training or qualifications to apply for this role. It is perfect for anyone currently studying, or those looking to make a move into conservation careers. We are more interested in people with a can-do attitude than lots of technical knowledge or experience!

Unsure whether you would be a good fit for the role? Please get in touch to talk it through!

Most activities will be around the river Teme catchment (Worcestershire, Shropshire, Herefordshire and Powys), and will involve travelling to some remote rural locations. Lift sharing and public transport will be possible, but volunteers must be able to travel independently to agreed locations. Some opportunities will take place further afield.

We have funding available to help cover the costs of travel and other expenses.

The deadline for applications to this role is Sunday 02 June.

You can find out more about the work of Severn Rivers Trust, and the summer placement opportunities at our free webinar on Thursday 02 May.ย
