Loch Lomond Fisheries Trust is looking to recruit a biologist/team leader to join our team, based at the Trust office in Drymen. This is a permanent post, with pension provision, consisting of a 37.5 hours working week.

The successful candidate will report to the Trust operations manager and will be directly involved in the design and delivery of a number of environmental and scientific projects which will ensure the long-term sustainability of fish habitat and populations within the Loch Lomond system. They will also be responsible for producing scientific papers and reports linked to Trust activities as well as researching and preparing funding bids in conjunction with the Trust operations manager.

The post holder will be educated to degree level and will ideally have experience of working within a fisheries trust background. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate an ability to manage projects, evidencing delivering on time and to budget.

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a small team of staff and will be expected to supervise in the field, spending significant amounts of time working outdoors, sometimes in physically demanding roles. The post holder should therefore have good levels of fitness.

The Trust strongly believes in staff development and in return expects our new biologist to be self-motivated and bring a positive proactive attitude to the role. An understanding of the issues impacting on the Lomond system would also be expected.

Further details on the role and qualities required for this post can be found in the job description which is available on request.

Applications by C.V. and covering letter should be submitted to the Trust operations manager at [email protected] no later than 5pm on Friday 26 August 2022. Please contact Malcolm for further information.
