The University of Cambridge is seeking a knowledgeable and committed individual to join the University's Sustainability Team as the Assistant Sustainability Manager.

The Sustainability Team provides strategic direction to the University on sustainability issues. It develops and implements long-term plans to reduce the University's carbon emissions, to manage and mitigate the University's environmental impacts and to comply with regulatory requirements.

This role is responsible for the development and implementation of policies, plans and projects to minimise the environmental impact of University operations, to comply with regulatory requirements and to achieve the objectives set out in the University's Environmental Sustainability Policy and Strategy. The Assistant Sustainability Manager will predominantly lead work on implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS) and annual reporting, but will also have involvement in other sustainability projects.

They will report to the Sustainability Manager and will have extensive contact with staff at all levels throughout the University, as well as working closely with external organisations.

Candidates should have substantial experience in the development and management of environmental sustainability projects and should have knowledge of a range of environment sustainability matters, in particular those relating to environmental legislation and EMS and a passion for, and knowledge of, a range of environmental sustainability-related issues.

The position will be based in Cambridge and managed within the Sustainability Team in the Estates Division and will be based primarily in Greenwich House, with flexibility to work from home for part of the week. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly, in regard to location, to meet the requirements of the job including travel across Cambridge.
