This is an exciting opportunity to join a team within the Chief Financial Controller area, that will be at the forefront of an area of growing importance in corporate reporting.

Aviva has been promoting sustainability and leading on climate action and reporting. We have reported on climate change in our Annual Report and Accounts since 2004 and we have published a climate disclosure in accordance with the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) since 2016. Externally, Aviva’s climate-related disclosures are considered market leading. In 2021 we won PwC’s Climate Change Reporting in the FTSE 350 reporting award and we are rated as Low Risk by Sustainalytics.

Reporting in the area of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), non-financial reporting (NFR) and climate continues to grow and gain momentum. In order to support the delivery of Aviva’s sustainability strategy a Climate and Non-financial reporting Centre of Excellence is being setup.

A bit about the job:

This role will support through the critical set up period and be a key part of ensuring the team is set up for success going forward as well as establishing BAU procedures. The role will be responsible for delivering internal and external reporting. The Centre of Excellence will serve internal customers of climate and other non-financial information including metrics, analysis of change and support on understanding methodology. In this role, you will lead the production and reporting of climate-related metrics and manage internal and external reporting processes for climate metrics for Group and Markets. You will develop procedures aligned to end-to-end process including implementation of key controls and lead documenting the NFR reporting calendar for climate reporting and instructions for the Group and Markets and communicate to stakeholders.

Location: London, Perth, York, Norwich, Bristol, Eastleigh or Sheffield.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Experience of reporting processes and governance including supporting Executive committees and Board committee papers
  • Knowledge and active Interest in Aviva’s sustainability strategy and reporting in the area of ESG with a keen interest in climate metrics and an understanding and expertise in climate reporting including data modelling and scenario analysis is preferred but not essential
  • Experience of setting up new reporting processes and key controls
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage high volumes and multiple deadlines and a strong sense of accountability
  • Good understanding of the importance of controls and how to evidence and document key controls

 What you’ll get for this role:

  • National starting salary between £40,000 - £55,000, London starting salary between £45,000 - £75,000 depending on skills, experience, and qualifications
