The Role

As momentum around the climate and ecological crises build, the role of the built environment in tackling these, as well as improving our health, wellbeing, and quality of life is increasingly understood - and now demanded. April 2022’s IPCC report reinforced a stark message to limit global warming to 1.5°C, greenhouse gas emissions will need to peak by 2025 at the very latest. With the UK’s built environment directly responsible for 25% of the UK’s emissions, it is imperative for us all to mobilise and lead the charge towards rapid decarbonisation.

UKGBC is right at the centre of this transformation. Our mission, vision and potential have shot up in importance for both public and private sector organisations that now want to play their part. At this pivotal moment for our industry, we need passionate, bright, positive and creative people to help us make change happen.

These Senior Advisor & Advisor positions offer a fantastic opportunity to play a leading role in contributing significantly to the building sectors’ net zero transition and to gain valuable experience working with leading businesses and other stakeholders whilst working with a passionate, knowledgeable, and growing team of colleagues at UKGBC.

We are seeking experienced and passionate individuals with technical and practical knowledge of low carbon buildings (existing and/or new build) and global green building certification tools, strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and a passion for sustainability in the built environment.

These roles are ideal for experienced early-career and seasoned built environment professionals seeking to diversify their skillset and extend their network across the breadth of the built environment industry. These industry facing roles offer the opportunity to rapidly develop and enhance skill sets in a range of areas, including project management, stakeholder engagement, communication, practical focused multi-disciplinary research and knowledge sharing. By being/becoming a technical subject matter expert the successful candidate will help shape the content of nationally applicable outputs while developing broad insight and knowledge through working across the entire built environment value chain.
