Role purpose
LIFE Quake is an ambitious £5m project funded by the EU LIFE programme, Welsh Government and a number of partners to transform the condition of Transition Mire and Quaking bogs and their associated species, most notably the threatened Marsh Fritillary Butterfly. This rare and much reduced habitat is found in a number of places in Wales, with the project focusing on sites in Pembrokeshire, Mid-Wales, Eifionydd and most notably Crymlyn Bog, near Swansea.
As a member of the LIFE Quake project team, you will develop and deliver the ambitious programme of practical site restoration, monitoring and stakeholder engagement work on 3 of the 6 Transition Mire and Quaking bogs SAC sites that are part of the project. You will draw up specifications for practical works and supervise contractors to deliver the ambitious programme.
Key partners in the project are the National Trust, Pembrokeshire Coast and Snowdonia National Park Authorities. The post holder will be working closely with Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority on the 3 SAC sites in Pembrokeshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for people wishing to further their career in biodiversity, conservation and land management.
