Job Title: GIS specialist – Full or part-time permanent positions available, on a flexible basis.

Salary: Salary from £22,000 per annum upwards depending on experience, with additional annual company profit-based bonuses

We are looking for a GIS specialist to join our friendly, supportive and welcoming working environment with a small team structure.

A bit about us

LC Ecological Services an independent ecological consultancy based on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. We work on a wide and interesting range of projects, from small-scale home improvements to large scale housing and solar projects.

We have built excellent working relationships with our clients over the last 20 years, which has enabled us to become extremely proficient at finding pragmatic solutions to any challenges associated with complex projects. As a well-established company and high-quality of work that we produce, we have built an excellent reputation in both the ecology and conservation sector, and these working relationships have resulted in contracts and involvement in conservation and research-based projects.

This exciting new role has been created due to an increasing requirement for GIS based skills within our scope of works and the ecological consultancy sector.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone with experience in QGIS, with the ability to produce high quality habitat mapping and with the relevant skills to calculate the areas of habitats and ecological features for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). Other aspects of QGIS are to produce figures to accompany protected species licences and ecological enhancement and mitigation plans to accompany our ecological reports.

Ideally, candidates will have a passion for ecology and nature conservation, with experience of working as part of a small team with good communication skills. Candidates will be required to have a relevant degree or suitable experience with at least one year’s experience of producing maps using QGIS to a professional standard.
