Assistant Reserves Officer (Blashford Lakes) - Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust
Part Time – 14 hours per week (Weekend, bank holiday and school holiday working will be required)
Fixed term contract
Salary: £18,500.00 to £22,000.00 pro rata depending on experience
Location: Blashford Lakes
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is a grassroots movement working for nature’s
recovery and to bring people closer to nature.
We are seeking an Assistant Reserves Officer (Blashford Lakes) to join our cause.
This fixed term role involves:
- Providing a friendly visual presence in public areas responding to queries and positively
engaging with the public about all areas of the site and its management
- Being point of contact for weekend volunteers
- Inspecting boundaries, paths and infrastructure and undertaking repairs where appropriate
- Working with the Reserves Officer to ensure the effective and coordinated delivery of
practical conservation on our nature reserves, primarily at Blashford Lakes
- Assisting with aspects of administration for the education and reserves work including
undertaking handling and cashing up donations
- Ensuring all activity receipts (including expenditure and income) are recorded, stored
securely & processed in accordance with Trust procedures

Experience:
- Experience of working with the general public face to face and online.
- Experience of working with volunteers
- Basic practical conservation skills with hand-tools
Knowledge
- A genuine interest in and knowledge of wildlife and nature conservation
- Basic practical conservation skills with handtools
- Understanding of health and safety
Skills
- Basic practical conservation skills with handtools
- Good communication skills
- An aptitude for practical estate management
- IT literate- particularly MS Office
