We are looking for someone who is highly personable, passionate and organised to support young people and the wider community in Bromsgrove and Redditch in an active role on community spaces.

In celebration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, a partnership with the National Lottery Heritage Fund called Nextdoor Nature has been launched. Nextdoor Nature will enable the Trust to take a significant step forward in supporting one in four people taking action for wildlife in a meaningful way helping them identify new places for nature that are important to them. We will also enable communities to reclaim and create new green spaces for nature in both rural and urban areas.

The Nextdoor Nature project is being launched at a very important time as we recognise that if we are to halt the decline in wildlife, we must work collectively to restore habitats and people’s connection to nature. As Wildlife Trusts, we cannot do this alone, we need the support of communities and young people to become champions of the future planet they will go on to inherit.

The role will be largely focused in areas of Bromsgrove and Redditch supporting young people and the wider community in an active role on community spaces. It will be based out of our Head Quarters at Lower Smite Farm near Droitwich. Day to day you will be supporting young people through workshops, community organising approaches, building nature connectedness and empowering people to action for wildlife in ways that matter to their local community.

We are looking for someone who is highly personable, passionate and organised. You are equally comfortable building relationships in communities as you are engaging with local politicians. You are committed to supporting community powered change and facilitating local people to empower themselves to act for nature. This role will enable you to make a real difference to nature’s recovery and to be part of our vision to protect 30% of land and sea by 2030.

Some evening and regular weekend working will be required, a full driving licence is essential. This is 0.8 FTE/28 hours per week position on a fixed contract until 30th June 2024.

The role will be largely based at Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, Lower Smite Farm, Hindlip, Worcester WR3 8SZ with regular travel to Bromsgrove and Redditch.

We’re Wild About Inclusion. To us, this means inspiring, empowering and engaging people from all backgrounds, cultures, identities and abilities, to change the natural world for the better. It also means cultivating inclusive workspaces that are free from discrimination, where differences are valued, everyone can be themselves and flourish, just like nature!
