We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Bird Wise Rangers to join our Greenspace Development team.

In order to succeed, you will need to be an excellent communicator and highly motivated individual. Bird Wise is an exciting project working to protect the North Kent coast’s bird life.

Working across the North Kent coastline you will provide an on-the-ground ranger service in the three Special Protection Areas (SPAs) of the Thames, Medway and Swale estuaries. You will be engaging directly with the public to raise awareness amongst visitors of the sensitivity of this internationally important site for migratory birds. You will work closely with landowners, managers and other key partners (including local authorities, Kent Wildlife Trust, the RSPB and Natural England).

Essential qualifications/experience

A strong team player who is able to work on their own is sought. The successful candidate will be used to working in a physically active environment, will have experience of education or public engagement and have knowledge of ecological principles and relevant protected species.

You will be working in challenging conditions through the all weathers so a passion for the great outdoors and wildlife is essential.

A full clean driving licence and access to own transport is essential as the role will involve regular travel to sites along the North Kent coast between Gravesend and Whitstable.

Desirable qualifications/experience

To either hold or be working towards a qualification in a relevant environmental subject.

Experience of accurately recording field data and uploading onto social media such as Facebook and Twitter is desirable. Experience of using Microsoft Office programmes to analyse and publish data is also desirable.
